Carols and Nine Lessons at Monash

Candles in the Monash Clayton Carols and Nine Lessons, 9 December 2014

If we love God and
our brothers and sisters
 we walk in the light.
-- Pope Francis
On Tuesday, 9th December, the Religious Centre at Monash was transformed into a candle-lit celebration in preparation for Christmas through the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, an initiative of the Orthodox community at Monash under the leadership of Fr. Geoff Harvey.

The event is supported by the Monash Chaplaincy team as well as the wider community. The Catholics on Campus Choir under the direction of Melissa Kwok joined the Orthodox Choir and the readings were done by representatives of each of the Christian members of the Monash Chaplaincy team.

We must restore hope to young people, help the old,
be open to the future, spread love.  Be poor among the poor.
We need to include the excluded and preach peace.
-- Pope Francis

This was another occasion when we could express our gratitude to those early pioneers who thought to donate this Religious Centre to the Monash community.

God never gives someone a gift they are not capable of receiving.  If He gives us the gift of Christmas, it is because we all have the ability to receive it.-- Pope Francis
