HEY GUYS, I COPIED N PASTED THIS BELOW MSG FROM A FORUM:(I'M REALLY SORRY IF THIS IS A BOTHER, WAS TRYING TO FIND A CATHOLIC FORUM, BUT COULDN'T, SO I TOT I MAY AS WELL POSTED IT HERE, PERHAPS SOMEONE CAN DIRECT ME? OR REPLY TO THIS MSG?)
This didn't happen to me but to a friend's uncle's wife's neighbour's daughter's pet dog's new owner's grand cousin.
Anyyyywaayy...the guy's a regular at Tian Di and the girl's a regular at some Catholic church. They fell in love but they're not together becuase of what the guy thinks is a teeny weeny problem.Religion. Well obviously the girl isn't such a devoted Catholic until she saw how devoted the guy is and decided to be more involved in her religion/church.
Here's the problem, the guys the girl was seeing before weren't Catholics but after getting more involved with her church (due to the dude who's a regular at Tian Di) she realises that it's one of the most important thing in a relationship because apparently according to her, only when you're in the same religion then would your morals and values would be the same. Well I would say that's a load of bull if you asked me. So right now the two of them are in an awkward situation, not here nor there.
So any advice guys? Do religion play a part in a relationship? Are we destined to only meet and marry people from Tao? Isn't that kinda narrow minded? DOESN'T LOVE PRECEDE EVERYTHINNNG?!?!!?..
LOL. I'm just bored at work. Would love to see some replies though.

Not that this appears to be the best venue (why comment where we are showing the Religious Centre pictures?), but here goes:
1. Perhaps Catholic Answers is a good place to pose this question.
2. That said, the girl's conclusions are valid. Morals and values are of the highest importance in a relationship, because they define what you determine to be right and wrong to do in the relationship. Obviously, if the two disagree on that, they will end up hurting and causing harm to each other and the relationship. Of course, the Catholic Church and Christianity itself does not require that the two share the same religion. My wife is Protestant, I'm Catholic. Not a problem so long as we have fairly compatible views, and we do.
3. The other matter of import is concerning the raising up of children. If you don't share the same ideas about what is right and wrong, what do you teach your children? You may not appreciate the implications of that until you actually have children (I have three), but once you do, you can't help but be struck (and humbled) by the awesome responsibility of bringing them up with the right values and notion for right and wrong.
4. If you wish to discuss this privately, please email me at jefferson.tan@gmail.com.
Thankx ALot!! really appreciate it =)
Religion as an issue for partners to life smooth sailing?
If anyone had faith and exercise that faith in tolerance and in compassion then perhaps the one who have litle faith will be entice to see the true meaning of that person's belief.
Obviously when diffrences of practice becomes prominent then there will always be disputes and challenges to face. I do hope that the one who is in the light should show to the other the beauty of having faith as a way of life. The values and the benefits should be weighed out in comparison to a relationship that have none.
One does not take another's faith just to please the person cause of love, that i thinks is the misconception. Love is love
irrespective of race, religion, age and gender.. but because also of love one embrace anything the other person cares.
that is the distinction...
We also love our faith because we love God who we honour and worship. As we go out of our way to show it to the Lord we
respect, we also accept more strongly those who does not practice the same..
Otherwise we who say have faith fails in spreading the good news that was shown us..
God Bless,
Akong
