Cross and Icon to Visit the University

11.00am-1.00pm Confession in different languages
Religious Centre (Bldg 9)
1.00pm-1.15pm World Youth Day (WYD) Cross and Icon arrives at the main entrance of Monash University, Wellington Road, Clayton is assembled at the roundabout area off Ring Road East, near Building 55 (Gallery Building).

The WYD Cross and Icon are received by Bishop Bernard O’Grady, OP, Emeritus Bishop of Gizo, Solomon Islands.

Bishop O’Grady then hands the WYD Cross and Icon to indigenous representatives and Monash students.

Welcome To Country / Acknowledgement of the land
Building 55 (Gallery Building).
1.15pm-1.25pm The WYD Cross and Icon is escorted on foot (led by indigenous Message Stick) via the Ring Road East to the (past Rotunda & Menzies Building) Religious Centre (Building 9). Religious Centre (Building 9)
1.25pm-1.30pm On arrival at the front of the Religious Centre, the WYD Cross and Icon is officially welcomed by Professor Richard Larkins AO, Vice-Chancellor and President.

At the conclusion of the Vice-Chancellor’s speech of welcome, Bishop Bernard O’Grady, OP, thanks the Vice-Chancellor for his welcome and invites all to join the WYD Cross and Icon in the Chapel.
Religious Centre (Building 9)
  At the conclusion of the speeches, WYD Cross and Icon will be carried into the Main Chapel via the Narthex by Monash University students. Religious Centre (Building 9)
1.30pm-3.00pm Catholic Mass is celebrated in the Main Chapel. Religious Centre (Building 9)
3.00pm-4.00pm Ecumenical Prayer Service, led by Monash Chaplains. Religious Centre (Building 9)
  At the conclusion of the Ecumenical Prayer Service, the WYD Cross and Icon is escorted to roundabout area behind the Religious Centre (near the club), where the WYD Cross and Icon are dismantled.
