Foundations of the Faith

Four units of study occupying one year (four school terms), each unit will comprise either 3 x 2 hour classes* (term 1) or 8 x 90 minutes classes‡ (terms 2, 3 and 4).

To be held at Mary Glowrey House, 132 Nicholson Street, Fitzroy.

Time: * 6.00 – 8.00 pm and/or ‡ 6.00 – 7.30 pm

Dates: First term – Mondays 13th February – 27th March

    (NOT 13th March Labour Day)
    Second term – Wednesdays 2nd May – 20th June
    Third term – Mondays 23rd July – 17th September
    Fourth term – Wednesdays 10th October – 28th November

Cost: $85 per unit or $320 for full year, paid in advance.

Minimum class size – 12

Units of Study:

  1. A Walk Through the Scriptures (David Schűtz) ”The Greatest Story Ever Told” – God’s master-plan for salvation from Creation through to the coming of Jesus Christ and the institution of the Church.
  2. A Road-map of the Faith (Rev Fr Anthony Denton) The Catechism of the Catholic Church, in the wisdom of its presentation and the depth of its spirituality, remains the basic text for catechesis in the Church today.
  3. Ours is a Sacramental Faith (David Schűtz) Christ communicates his Spirit and the grace of God through the sacraments to all the members of the Church, who thus bear the fruits of the new life of the Spirit.
  4. And the Word was Made Flesh … (Anna Krohn) John Paul II’s inspirational Theology of the Body – a life-changing understanding of ourselves as bodily persons made for love.
